The CCTV footage of One Direction star Liam Payne’s fatal fall from a third-floor hotel balcony in Buenos Aires reveals new details about how he died, according to an Argentinian journalist who has seen the vision.
CCTV footage captured One Direction star Liam Payne fainting and then falling from the third-floor balcony of his room at CasaSur Palermo Hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentinian media has claimed.
The 31-year-old former boyband member died from internal and external injuries caused by the fall from the hotel balcony in the Argentinian capital on October 16, a preliminary autopsy found.
Police found Payne dead in the courtyard after receiving a 911 call from hotel staff raising concerns about an aggressive man who may have been under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

A preliminary toxicology report found Payne had consumed substances including ‘pink cocaine’, cocaine, and benzodiazepine before his death, with prosecutors believing he was in a state of “semi or total unconsciousness” when he fell.
Speaking on Buenos Aires-based TV station Canal 13’s broadcast show Socios del Espectaculo, journalist Paula Varela said CCTV footage shows Payne “faints” before he fell, which is “not being released to the media”.
“There is footage that is not being released to the media with the balcony scene where you see that Liam faints and tragically because of where he is, falls from that balcony. If he had been beside his bed he would have fallen on his bed,” she said.
“It’s not that he jumped deliberately. This footage is in the official case files.”
Ms Varela also reported a night-shift worker at the hotel, who had an “excellent relationship with Liam”, was the focus of an investigation into staff who allegedly supplied him with drugs in the days before his death.
“There’s a lad who’s being investigated, he was working nights at the hotel. He’s 20 and had struck up an excellent relationship with Liam,” she said.
“He’s from Lomas de Zamora on the outskirts of Buenos Aires but we’re not going to say his name.”
Ms Varela said the man in his 20s had “disobeyed an order from the hotel management”, who had instructed staff not to take items into Payne’s room.
“Because of the good relationship he had with Liam he requested a car through one of these taxi apps we all use because Liam wanted something,” she said.
“He did him that favour, a massive error because he’s being investigated, and they’re seeing what was transferred in that vehicle.
“It’s one of the things the investigators are looking at, at the moment, and obviously this hotel worker has been suspended.
“He’s a cherished member of staff, a good worker, but he disobeyed an order that could have proved fatal.”
A person claiming to be Payne’s close friend told the Daily Mail two staff members had sent taxis to collect “packages” for Payne.
Argentinean police have probed the staff members accused of smuggling powder, crystals, tablets, and paraphernalia into Payne’s room.
They are thought to have hidden the hard drugs in an empty Dove soap box.

Local media published pictures allegedly showing the inside of Payne’s hotel room after his death and what appears to be the soapbox, white powder, and burnt aluminum foil on a table.
Payne had been spending time in Argentina with his girlfriend Kate Cassidy and had seen his former bandmate Niall Horan perform in the country weeks before his death.
It was revealed Payne had planned to propose to Cassidy soon, as a recovered note from the singer read: “Me and Kate to marry within a year/engaged & 2gether 4ever.”
She shared an emotional tribute to the star on Instagram one week after the tragic incident.
“I don’t even know where to begin. My heart is shattered in ways I can’t put into words. I wish you could see the huge impact you’ve had on the world, even as it feels so dark right now,” she wrote in a post.
“You brought so much happiness and positivity to everyone – millions of fans, your family, friends, and especially me. You are so incredibly loved.”
