In some countries, especially in the East, the trade in dog meat is a reality guided by cultural, gastronomic reasons or by the mere demand that is based on laws that legalize this practice.
This is a dark and brutal context that unfortunately should not end in the short term. Therefore, when we became aware of news of mass rescues of dogs that would be sacrificed for human consumption, we were very happy to share them!
A few weeks ago, around 70 dogs were rescued by the NGO Humane Society International (HSI) from a slaughterhouse in Hongsong, South Korea.
The animals spent months locked in cages and in terrible conditions, and would be euthanized at any time. The rescue was made possible by HSI spokespeople who had long tried to convince and persuade the farm owner that the dog industry is not a good business.
Fortunately, the man understood the seriousness of the matter and finally decided to hand over the puppies and receive help so that he can dedicate himself to other work on his farm.
For more than 40 years, farmer Nakseon Kim has dedicated himself to working on the dog farm, but now he has decided to change his life. In this regard he commented:“It may seem strange, but I started raising dogs because I like dogs. I’ve never been a fan of dog meat. I had a few dogs, so I started breeding them and when I was in my 20s or 30s I started selling them because I thought it would be productive, but it didn’t work out that way. I make nothing from this dog farm, and the pressure from the government is increasing and it is absolutely not a good business.”h-a-n-h
The rescue was scheduled for the beginning of March, but due to strong restrictions due to the Covid-19 pandemic, it was not possible to carry it out. The border blockade and social isolation prevented the cubs from moving. Now, all seventy dogs have been placed in temporary foster homes.h-a-n-h
The main goal is to transfer them to Canada or the United States, where the organization will ensure they find permanent adoptive homes that give them all the love they deserve.h-a-n-h
However, puppies must wait a while before reaching their final destination, as there are still many restrictions on international flights. For now, they are being relocated to temporary homes in South Korea. The nightmare for all these furry friends is over!

The recovery process was different for each pup; Unfortunately, some suffered serious injuries and required exclusive dedication. Fortunately, they are now in good hands and hopefully they will soon be members of a loving family.Continuing to fight for the release of dogs in slaughterhouse lines is everyone’s commitment. Fortunately, things are changing and it is hoped that, little by little, this practice will be completely eradicated.h-a-n-h
Thanks to South Korean government sanctions and the hard work of activists and organizations, great strides are being made in this part of the world where puppies are heavily mistreated by the meat trade and puppy mill industries.Recently, it was revealed that the Chinese cities of Shenzhen and Zhuhai have banned the consumption of dog meat and have now considered them pets.h-a-n-h
Farmer Nakseon Kim understood that dog farming is neither right nor sustainable, and is now growing cabbages and other vegetables with the help of charities. HSI activist Nara Kim noted:“Unfortunately, it is still very common to see live puppies for sale in pet stores. But what most Koreans would be surprised to learn is that these same cubs could have been slaughtered for human consumption. Whether they live or die, everyone is born in these places, raised intensively by their mothers over and over again until they are exhausted and finally sold to slaughterhouses.”h-a-n-h
The torture for these puppies has come to an end, with a great victory that reminds us that there is still much to do and lives to save. Through a publication, HSI shared the big news:
“No more cages. There is no more suffering. Around 70 dogs were rescued from a dog meat farm in South Korea, and it was just because of your support, THANK YOU!”Watch the video:Read also: Queen Elizabeth’s 4 most spoiled dogs are transferred to “dream home” Share the post with your friends!h-a-n-h
