Two helpless puppies that belonged inside a loving family, were instead trying to survive on the streets. Their bellies were substantially swollen from built-up fluid.
Because both babies were malnourished, their albumin levels were low. Albumin is a vital blood protein, and when levels are low in the body, fluids can build in the belly.
These two lovely pups would not have survived long if they had not been discovered and transported to a vet clinic in time. They were utterly unaccustomed to humans.
They were naturally afraid, not knowing what might happen to them next. They merely clung to one other and stared at a wall.
The vet was undoubtedly taken aback when he was finally able to examine them. These babies were also afflicted with ticks. Anemia was caused by ticks and malnourishment.
To make matters worse, they are parasites as well. Both pups would require significant care, including blood transfusions.
It was important that the vet remove the fluid from their swollen bellies, but this is a tough surgery. Some dogs do not survive it. On the exam table, the vet and his colleagues prepped the pups.
