Birth and Life

Lulu was born on January 17, 1967, at the sanctuary itself. She began developing her unusual third horn while still a heifer, leading to her designation as “the most horned cow in America.”

Progeny and Legacy

Throughout her life, Lulu gave birth to 18 calves and became the grandmother to 143 grandchildren and the great-grandmother to 298 great-grandchildren. Despite her prolific lineage, none of her descendants inherited her distinctive third horn.

Health and Longevity

Contrary to concerns that her bizarre horn might negatively impact her health, Lulu remained healthy for many years. She lived to see all her descendants pass away before her own death on September 30, 1991.
