Dutch Military Vehicle Presents Its New DMV4x4 AnacondaSOF DEF

In a remarkable move to expand the horizons of their Military Utility Vehicle (MUV) family, Dutch Military Vehicle has joined forces with IDV and DMV to unveil the cutting-edge DMV4x4 AnacondaSOF DEF. This groundbreaking vehicle marks a significant leap forward, building upon the triumphant AnacondA series that has already established itself in the arsenal of a NATO nation. The collaboration has yielded a highly specialized variant on the MUV platform, tailored to the distinct requirements of Special Operations Forces (SOF) and readily adaptable to various other branches within the military. This versatile platform lends itself seamlessly to roles such as fire support, rapid attack, cargo and personnel transport, and even ambulance duties.

The grand reveal took place at Eurosatory 2022, where the AnacondA SOF DEF was showcased in its entirety, available not only as a fully open configuration but also in partially enclosed and completely sealed versions. This flexibility ensures that the vehicle can cater to the most discerning demands of its clientele. Designed to thrive in the most extreme conditions, the MUV platform offers a choice of FPT Industrial engines boasting cutting-edge EURO VI technology, with power outputs ranging from 146 to 180 horsepower. These engines are meticulously engineered to excel in challenging environments encompassing temperatures as low as -32°C to as high as +49°C, while remaining capable of functioning with lower-grade fuels. The powerplants can be mated to either a six-speed manual gearbox or an eight-speed automatic with torque converter. Augmenting mobility is a permanent 4×4 drive equipped with lockable differentials and a PTO-equipped transfer case. Meanwhile, the independent front suspension system, incorporating torsion bars, guarantees a harmonious blend of off-road prowess, handling, and reliability.

The roots of the AnacondA name trace back to the mighty South American snake, symbolizing the vehicle’s prowess in both land and water domains. Inspired by the renowned operational capabilities of the Dutch Royal Marine Corps, who excel in amphibious missions, the vehicle was initially crafted for deployment in the Dutch Caribbean. The initial batch of AnacondA vehicles was produced in 2018, and they have since played a vital role in the Dutch Ministry of Defence’s operations. The first 46 units were earmarked for the Caribbean islands of Curaçao, Aruba, and St. Maarten. Subsequent to this successful rollout, an additional order for 14 AnacondA vehicles followed suit. Notably, the AnacondA’s drivetrain underwent a transformation from rear-wheel drive to a permanent 4×4 configuration, thanks to a collaborative effort with Achleitner Fahrzeugbau in Austria.
