Lunita is a dog who, despite being in her wheelchair, was abandoned without compassion, and that was not all, they also left her tied to a fence in that sad condition. Can you be meaner? There are stories that leave an indelible mark on the heart, and this is one of them. With tears mixed with sadness and happiness.

Early in the morning, Lunita was left under the sun’s rays, chained to the fence of a hair salon located on Zabala Street, in the community of Salta, Argentina.

The poor dog was lying face down on the sidewalk, she had a dilapidated wheelchair placed on the lower part of her body. Next to her, they had left a package of diapers and a note with her information. They also explained that whoever abandoned her there was not her owner, but she couldn’t keep her.

The store employee who discovered her immediately contacted the rescue organization “LUBA Salta” and two of their volunteers came to look for Lunita.

The rescuers were able to verify the sad condition of the dog: without the possibility of moving, she had no food or water, she was wearing a flooded diaper, and a look that only asked for help.

She seemed very weak and scared, the neighbors say that she was so dazed by the noises and strange people, that in her eagerness to escape from it, she almost hanged herself. Fortunately, her heroes were there to help her and take her to the shelter.

Because her shocking story went viral, it didn’t take long for an American family to appear willing to adopt her. With the proceeds, Lunita managed to travel.h-a-n-h

However, her adoptive family was not well informed about caring for a disabled dog, which caused Lunita to develop a serious urinary tract infection. She was diagnosed with a very severe staphylococcus infection, as a result of mite infestation (Mange ).h-a-n-h

The infection, scabies and the wounds caused by burning urine caused her to lose all her hair from the waist down, including that on her tail. Poor Lunita suffered a lot, at 15 kilograms she was underweight.

Lunita was sent to a new, loving foster family in another state. She took a lot of effort, constant visits to the vet and lots of medications.

But, thanks to her desire to live and the attention she received, she managed to recover, in addition to reaching a healthy weight of 25 kilograms.h-a-n-h

However, due to his disability, he required medical treatment that meant a high monthly cost. But, luckily, he never lacked anything, since he had a fund of money collected that was used to cover his needs.h-a-n-h

Lunita would not have gotten this far without the generosity of people who made donations and the collaboration of sponsors who immediately wanted to help change Lunita’s life forever. She never imagined she would be so happy with a real family.

Poco después de haber cumplido 11 años, su estado físico comenzó a deteriorarse, al punto que tuco que ser ingresada en la UCI para intentar salvar su vida.h-a-n-h

Her owner announced that she was absolutely devastated, Lunita could not resist any longer, until she finally decided to cross the rainbow bridge. She thus expressed her pain on Facebook: “I feel like a part of my soul has died. I will never forget her and how much she meant to me. She changed my life forever. She loved her very much.”h-a-n-h

He took the opportunity to express his gratitude to each person who prayed and donated to help Lunita. Together with his family he was able to have and be what every dog has always deserved. She spent her last years surrounded by immense love.h-a-n-h
