Honouring Nursing Mothers with Beautiful Visual Representations: Accepting Maternal Bonds

Ivette Ives, a mother of two, has had a passion for photography since childhood but never envisioned making a living out of it. However, after becoming a mother herself, she developed a strong affinity for capturing pregnancy, birth, and breastfeeding moments. Ivette explained, “I started photographing breastfeeding after reading online debates about whether mothers should breastfeed in public. I believe it’s a very natural and instinctive thing for a mother. So, I took these photos to express my point of view.”

This series of photos, taken by the American photographer Ivette Ives, portrays the days of breastfeeding. Ivette shared her experience, stating, “In fact, breastfeeding can make a mother feel sloppy, uncomfortable, and even painful. But deep inside, each woman experiences a completely different emotion – joy, happiness, and an indescribable feeling. Every time I breastfeed my baby, even with stained shirts and messy hair, I still feel like a superhero, and breastfeeding becomes a supernatural force of mine.”h-a-n-h

Her special passion for breastfeeding prompted her to honor the beauty of breastfeeding mothers through photography. While creating this collection, the female photographer and the breastfeeding mothers endured the cold, even snowy weather to capture these extraordinary images and convey the message that mothers should feel free to feed their babies breast milk anytime, anywhere.h-a-n-h

Ivette, a mother of two, is currently breastfeeding her second child, with her oldest being breastfed until the age of three. She proudly breastfeeds her babies wherever she wants, whether it’s at churches, parties, farmers’ fairs, or high-end designer boutiques. She firmly believes that mothers should breastfeed their babies whenever they feel the need. She also encourages mothers to breastfeed for as long as their babies require because babies instinctively know when to stop. This year, Ivette will release a photo book titled

“Breastfeeding Goddesses,” which will feature her beautiful breastfeeding photos she has captured over time. These pictures, taken in the midst of cold weather, including snow, are incredibly close to nature.

The message that the female photographer wants to convey to everyone is to breastfeed whenever and wherever possible, embracing the natural act of nourishing a baby through breastfeeding. She emphasizes that nothing is better than breast milk for babies’ health and well-being.h-a-n-h
