For this Chihuahua, his body may be a little different from that of the other furry dogs in the shelter, but that has not been enough of a reason to stop running and playing at all hours of the day. His name is  Joey and at only 3 months old  he has taught everyone who knows his story a lesson in perseverance.

The furry dog ​​lives with dozens of adoptive siblings at  Vintage Pet Rescue , a shelter for elderly and disabled furry dogs, located in Rhode Island (United States). But  although the Chihuahua is missing both of its front legs, that has not been an impediment to moving forward.The little dog was born that way due to a genetic condition, so in his short life he already learned to defend himself with only his hind legs and guess what? Well Joey is quite happy.If you doubt it, you just have to see it in action.h-a-n-h

Kristen Peralta, founder of Vintage Pet Rescue,  is delighted with the Chihuahua  because, although she knows that it is a breed with a lot of energy, Joey outperforms all the dogs she has encountered as a rescuer.h-a-n-h

“Joey is one of the happiest dogs we have ever met. “He doesn’t know that he is different and he loves playing with toys, fighting with the other dogs, enjoying his splash pad and getting cuddles,” he said.

For Joey there is nothing wrong with his body, he accepts and enjoys life as he has. Of course: anything this Chihuahua cannot achieve, he will surely try a thousand and one times before giving up.

Joey has an infectious personality  and Kristen is privileged to have known him. That is why he appreciates the cooperation of the first shelter that he thought of her to be her protector.This little dog first fell into the hands of volunteers at   CT Humane Society , who felt he would be better off with Kristen and her team.The truth is that they were not wrong, at all.

At Vintage Pet Rescue, Joey is the most spoiled. At his young age he has a lot of energy, but he is also sleepy and spoiled. In fact, he has a whole collection of stuffed animals at his disposal both to play with and to snuggle with whenever he wants.The Chihuahua has several favorite toys but a plush llama seems to be his favorite. He turns to her every time it’s time to take her nap.A furry tenderness.h-a-n-h

Although he sometimes copies the attitudes of the larger dogs in the group, Joey is still a puppy and that is why seeing him snuggled up with his stuffed animals is so touching.“He’s still a puppy, so he plays hard and then looks around to take a nap. “Joey loves to snuggle with his big stuffed animals and take a long nap… He loves his toys!” Peralta said.h-a-n-h

The care of this Chihuahua pleases Peralta, who sees him as an example of perseverance. For the animal activist, her main reason is to help him and make sure he doesn’t get into trouble.“Joey can climb stairs, get on the couch and pretty much get anywhere he wants to go. It’s really amazing to see him move so well. Nothing stops him,” he said.h-a-n-h

Currently, the Chihuahua is waiting for a wheelchair that will help him move more easily. The chair will be provided by the team at   Eddie’s Wheels for Pets . After he has his chair and receives his castration, the furry dog ​​will be ready to be adopted and that process excites Peralta very much.“We know we’ll have hundreds of applications for him, but there’s only one Joey!”h-a-n-h
